## Desk frame
- **Held — 18Z intraday, two hours to the US close; nothing is classed here.** Wednesday's base, declared in the 10-08-00 block, stands: the index bars run off Wednesday's closes, and the 2Y class base is that block's CMT (4.77). Thu 10-08 is a fresh leg one at most, and it scores in the **Fri 10-09 00Z** edition.
- **★ Falsifier — the Nasdaq Composite's index leg has FIRED on the falling side: its max intraday excursion is −1.71% against a strict >1.50% bar.** The S&P max is −0.90% and the Dow −0.47% (item 1). A printed session low cannot be undone. What is still open is the class. If the 19:30Z 2Y CMT is INERT (|Δ|≤3bp off 4.77), the run goes to **1**; if it is RESPONDED (≥4bp), the run RESETS to 0. The live 2Y is about **1.7bp below** Wednesday's market close (item 2). That is a live tick, not the CMT, and I do not pre-score it. It is the first fire since the 10-05 00Z RESET.
- **Changed since 12Z — the Composite broke its bar, the curve reversed from a selloff to a rally, crude held most of its gain, and Isaias reached 85 mph.** Futures were about −0.45 to −0.8% at 12Z; the cash S&P is now about **−0.73%**, the Composite **−1.5%** and the Dow **−0.07%** (item 1). The live 2Y has gone from about +4.6bp to about **−1.7bp**, and the 10Y from about +5.6bp to about **−4.2bp** (item 2). WTI is about **+3.8%** and Brent about **+4.2%**, against about +4.4% each at 12Z (item 3).

- 🔵 **★ THE INDEX LEG — the Composite fired with a max of −1.71%; the S&P and the Dow did not.** Against Wednesday's closes declared in the 10-08-00 block, the max intraday excursions so far are **Composite −1.71%**, **S&P −0.90%** and **Dow −0.47%**, all on the low side; the Dow's high is about +0.10%, and the S&P and Composite have not traded above Wednesday's close. At about 18:00Z, the indexes are **−0.73% / −1.51% / −0.07%** (S&P / Composite / Dow); the Composite is about 0.2 percentage points above its low. **The rule, fixed in advance:** a fire with the 2Y CMT INERT (|Δ|≤3bp off 4.77) takes the run to **1**; RESPONDED (≥4bp) is a RESET; the class is decided at the 19:30Z CMT and scored at Fri 10-09 00Z. **What the outlets say:** CNBC's live blog headline reads "Stocks fall, weighed down by oil prices and tech declines." A CNBC post cites a Financial Times report on OpenAI's revenue as pressure on bitcoin-mining stocks; I have not checked the FT report. Those are the outlets' readings; I attribute nothing.
  - evidence: **Cash indexes vs Wed 10-07 closes declared in the 10-08-00 block (CNBC session high/low = Yahoo daily bar, to the cent, ~18:00Z): max excursion Composite −1.71% (low side; past the >1.50% bar), S&P −0.90%, Dow −0.47% (all low side). Highs −0.05 / −0.17 / +0.10% (S&P / Composite / Dow). Current −0.73 / −1.51 / −0.07%. Bars = block closes ± 1.50% (levels in that window's item 1). Class at the 19:30Z CMT; scores Fri 10-09 00Z.**
  - uncertainty: 🟢 the excursions are two-sourced and the Composite's low agrees to the cent; 🟢 a printed session low cannot be revised away by the rest of the session; 🔵 the 2Y class is decided only at the CMT; 🟡 the drivers are the outlets' readings, and the FT report is unchecked.

- 🟡 **RATES AND THE FED — the 30-year auction cleared, the live curve rallied, and Waller expects more hikes.** **The auction:** Treasury sold **$22bn** of reopened 30-year bonds at 17:00Z; primary dealers took about **6.6%** of the accepted amount, indirect bidders about **70%** and direct bidders about **20%** (Treasury's own results). **Live yields** against Wednesday's market close (CNBC): the **2Y about −1.7bp**, the **5Y about −3.0bp**, the **10Y about −4.2bp** (Yahoo about −4.8bp) and the **30Y about −4.8bp**. At 12Z every tenor was 4 to 6bp higher. It is a live tick, not the CMT; I establish no cause for the reversal. **Waller:** Fed Governor Christopher Waller, speaking in Turkey, said, per CNBC: "If the economic data continue to come in as expected, I anticipate additional hikes to support a timelier return of inflation to our 2 percent goal." One official's belief is not a CPI or PCE print; it cannot settle the AI-as-inflation axis. **Jobless claims** edged down to **197,000**, per CNBC's account of the Labor Department release, which I have not checked.
  - evidence: **Treasury auction 10-08 (fiscaldata): 29-yr 10-month bond (30Y reopening), offered $22bn, accepted $22.5bn incl. $0.52bn SOMA; dealers $1.49bn (~6.6%), indirect $15.87bn (~70%; ~72% ex-SOMA), direct $4.58bn (~20%). CNBC vs Wed market close (~18:00Z; live, not CMT): US2Y −1.7bp, US5Y −3.0bp, US10Y −4.2bp, US30Y −4.8bp; Yahoo ^TNX −4.8bp vs Wed bar. 12Z: +4.6 / +5.2 / +5.6 / +4.0bp. CNBC blog (12:10Z): Waller remarks. CNBC blog (12:53Z): initial claims 197,000 (−2,000).**
  - uncertainty: 🟢 the auction result is primary; 🟡 the 2Y, 5Y and 30Y moves are live and single-sourced, and the 10Y reads differ by about 0.6bp across vendors; 🟡 the Waller quotes and the claims figures are CNBC's account; 🔵 no cause established for the curve reversal.

- 🔵 **CRUDE, THE STORM AND THE REST — crude up about 4% but off its highs after a Trump post on Iran; Isaias at 85 mph; Europe closed lower; the dollar turned.** November `CLX26` is about **+3.8%** and December Brent about **+4.2%** against Wednesday's vendor prior-close fields (CNBC `@CL.1` / `@LCO.1` and Yahoo agree). These are live ticks; NYMEX settles at 18:30Z, after this pull. CNBC reports that oil came off its highs after President Donald Trump said in a Truth Social post that the U.S. "will not be attacking Iran at any time prior to the Midterm Elections" on Nov. 3. At 12Z I carried an NBC News report that pre-midterm strikes were an option. The post is CNBC's account; I establish no cause for crude's path. **The storm:** NHC's 18:00Z intermediate advisory 8A has **Hurricane Isaias** at **85 mph**, 975 mb, moving ENE at 10 mph, and expects further strengthening. A **hurricane warning** runs from Ocean Springs, MS to the Bay/Gulf County line, FL, and a storm surge warning from the mouth of the Mississippi to the Suwannee River; the advisory lists no changes. **Europe closed lower:** STOXX 600 **−0.75%**, DAX **−1.18%**, FTSE **−0.16%** (CNBC = Yahoo). Live gilt and Bund 10Y yields are about **6.4bp** and **3.5bp** lower (CNBC). **The DXY is about −0.14%** (CNBC; Yahoo about −0.11%). **Gold** is about **+0.3%** (CNBC and Yahoo agree).
  - evidence: **CLX26 +3.81% vs Wed prior-close field (CNBC @CL.1) / +3.82% (Yahoo CLX26.NYM vs 10-07 bar), ~17:50Z; live, pre-settle. Brent Dec +4.24% (CNBC @LCO.1) / +4.23% (Yahoo BZZ26.NYM vs 10-07 bar). 12Z: about +4.4% each. CNBC blog (16:55Z): Trump Truth Social post on Iran. NHC Isaias intermediate advisory 8A (18:00Z): hurricane, 85 mph, 975 mb, ENE 10 mph; hurricane warning Ocean Springs to Bay/Gulf County line; storm surge warning Mississippi mouth to Suwannee River; changes: none. Closes: .STOXX −0.75%, .GDAXI −1.18%, .FTSE −0.16% (CNBC = Yahoo dated 10-08 bars). GB10Y −6.4bp, DE10Y −3.5bp (CNBC, live ~18:00Z). DXY −0.14% (CNBC) / −0.11% vs Wed bar (Yahoo DX-Y.NYB); EUR= +0.13%; JPY= −0.22%; @GC.1 +0.28% (= Yahoo GC=F vs Wed bar, +0.27%).**
  - uncertainty: 🟢 the crude, equity-close, dollar and gold moves are two-sourced; 🟢 the storm status is NHC's own, and 🟡 its strength and timing are forecasts; 🟡 the Trump post is CNBC's account; 🟡 the gilt and Bund moves are live and single-sourced; 🔵 no cause established for crude's path or the bond rally.
