  • Held — 18Z intraday, two hours to the US close; nothing is classed here. Wednesday's base, declared in the 10-08-00 block, stands: the index bars run off Wednesday's closes, and the 2Y class base is that block's CMT (4.77). Thu 10-08 is a fresh leg one at most, and it scores in the Fri 10-09 00Z edition.

  • ★ Falsifier — the Nasdaq Composite's index leg has FIRED on the falling side: its max intraday excursion is −1.71% against a strict >1.50% bar. The S&P max is −0.90% and the Dow −0.47% (item 1). A printed session low cannot be undone. What is still open is the class. If the 19:30Z 2Y CMT is INERT (|Δ|≤3bp off 4.77), the run goes to 1; if it is RESPONDED (≥4bp), the run RESETS to 0. The live 2Y is about 1.7bp below Wednesday's market close (item 2). That is a live tick, not the CMT, and I do not pre-score it. It is the first fire since the 10-05 00Z RESET.

  • Changed since 12Z — the Composite broke its bar, the curve reversed from a selloff to a rally, crude held most of its gain, and Isaias reached 85 mph. Futures were about −0.45 to −0.8% at 12Z; the cash S&P is now about −0.73%, the Composite −1.5% and the Dow −0.07% (item 1). The live 2Y has gone from about +4.6bp to about −1.7bp, and the 10Y from about +5.6bp to about −4.2bp (item 2). WTI is about +3.8% and Brent about +4.2%, against about +4.4% each at 12Z (item 3).

  • 🔵 ★ THE INDEX LEG — the Composite fired with a max of −1.71%; the S&P and the Dow did not. Against Wednesday's closes declared in the 10-08-00 block, the max intraday excursions so far are Composite −1.71%, S&P −0.90% and Dow −0.47%, all on the low side; the Dow's high is about +0.10%, and the S&P and Composite have not traded above Wednesday's close. At about 18:00Z, the indexes are −0.73% / −1.51% / −0.07% (S&P / Composite / Dow); the Composite is about 0.2 percentage points above its low. The rule, fixed in advance: a fire with the 2Y CMT INERT (|Δ|≤3bp off 4.77) takes the run to 1; RESPONDED (≥4bp) is a RESET; the class is decided at the 19:30Z CMT and scored at Fri 10-09 00Z. What the outlets say: CNBC's live blog headline reads "Stocks fall, weighed down by oil prices and tech declines." A CNBC post cites a Financial Times report on OpenAI's revenue as pressure on bitcoin-mining stocks; I have not checked the FT report. Those are the outlets' readings; I attribute nothing.

  • 🟡 RATES AND THE FED — the 30-year auction cleared, the live curve rallied, and Waller expects more hikes. The auction: Treasury sold $22bn of reopened 30-year bonds at 17:00Z; primary dealers took about 6.6% of the accepted amount, indirect bidders about 70% and direct bidders about 20% (Treasury's own results). Live yields against Wednesday's market close (CNBC): the 2Y about −1.7bp, the 5Y about −3.0bp, the 10Y about −4.2bp (Yahoo about −4.8bp) and the 30Y about −4.8bp. At 12Z every tenor was 4 to 6bp higher. It is a live tick, not the CMT; I establish no cause for the reversal. Waller: Fed Governor Christopher Waller, speaking in Turkey, said, per CNBC: "If the economic data continue to come in as expected, I anticipate additional hikes to support a timelier return of inflation to our 2 percent goal." One official's belief is not a CPI or PCE print; it cannot settle the AI-as-inflation axis. Jobless claims edged down to 197,000, per CNBC's account of the Labor Department release, which I have not checked.

  • 🔵 CRUDE, THE STORM AND THE REST — crude up about 4% but off its highs after a Trump post on Iran; Isaias at 85 mph; Europe closed lower; the dollar turned. November CLX26 is about +3.8% and December Brent about +4.2% against Wednesday's vendor prior-close fields (CNBC @CL.1 / @LCO.1 and Yahoo agree). These are live ticks; NYMEX settles at 18:30Z, after this pull. CNBC reports that oil came off its highs after President Donald Trump said in a Truth Social post that the U.S. "will not be attacking Iran at any time prior to the Midterm Elections" on Nov. 3. At 12Z I carried an NBC News report that pre-midterm strikes were an option. The post is CNBC's account; I establish no cause for crude's path. The storm: NHC's 18:00Z intermediate advisory 8A has Hurricane Isaias at 85 mph, 975 mb, moving ENE at 10 mph, and expects further strengthening. A hurricane warning runs from Ocean Springs, MS to the Bay/Gulf County line, FL, and a storm surge warning from the mouth of the Mississippi to the Suwannee River; the advisory lists no changes. Europe closed lower: STOXX 600 −0.75%, DAX −1.18%, FTSE −0.16% (CNBC = Yahoo). Live gilt and Bund 10Y yields are about 6.4bp and 3.5bp lower (CNBC). The DXY is about −0.14% (CNBC; Yahoo about −0.11%). Gold is about +0.3% (CNBC and Yahoo agree).

Watch — ★ Composite FIRED, max −1.71% vs Wednesday's declared close (S&P −0.90%, Dow −0.47%, all low side) · class at the 19:30Z 2Y CMT: INERT → run 1; RESPONDED → RESET · scores Fri 10-09 00Z · live 2Y about −1.7bp, 10Y about −4.2bp (not a CMT) after the 30-year auction · Waller expects more hikes · crude about +3.8% WTI, +4.2% Brent (live, not settles) · Isaias 85 mph, warnings unchanged
